My experience at Adam House was unforgettable as I had no other place to stay at that time. It was recommended to me by a friend. I like the idea that the shelter is Christian. Adam House people helped me to get financial assistance and gave me a good advice about my new life in Canada.
I went to Adam House one year ago. I met some new friends. I find there a good friendly atmosphere, helpful staff and volunteers. Adam House is a good organization with helping hands and great people. I miss it.
A SHINING PLACE IN THE "STEEL JUNGLE" by: Felix, Newcomer to Canada
Arriving to a new place as a newcomer implies a complicated and difficult process of adjusting oneself to the unknown—a long path of constant learning about how the society functions, and the steps that should be taken during the first weeks or months in a big city like Toronto. It could be a nightmare or a smooth and pleasant experience. In my case, even with all those small and important daily requirements a refugee claimant faces, it was a rewarding and successful process, thanks to Adam House. They have well trained and caring staff. Adam House staff is a group of experts I would recommend to be consulted by refugee claimants and newcomers to Canada, whenever needed. After passing through Adam House you feel part of an "extended family". Thanks to Adam House staff for their help and support.
